據(jù)國(guó)家統(tǒng)計(jì)局近期發(fā)布的《中國(guó)統(tǒng)計(jì)年鑒2021》，2020年，官方統(tǒng)計(jì)的結(jié)婚登記人數(shù)共計(jì)814.33萬(wàn)對(duì)，自2013年以來連續(xù)7年下降，且創(chuàng)下2003年以來的歷史新低。

首先是年輕人數(shù)量下降。根據(jù)國(guó)家統(tǒng)計(jì)局?jǐn)?shù)據(jù)，我國(guó)80后（1980-1989年出生人口，依此類推）、90后、00后人口分別為2.23億人、2.1億和1.63億，整體呈不斷下降趨勢(shì)。
其次，由于結(jié)婚成本升高、工作壓力大、女性的教育水平和經(jīng)濟(jì)獨(dú)立程度大幅提高等原因，當(dāng)代年輕人結(jié)婚意愿普遍下降。
